About
Joshua Amar is an Aerospace Engineer from London, United Kingdom with a focus on Space Situational Awareness, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, and cradle-to-grave space mission planning.
He has been involved in two stratospheric balloon projects. He is team lead for Project EXCALIBUR (EXtremeophile Cyanobacteria: Atmospheric Life Investigation for Biological UV Resistance) which is a self launched experiment and launch platform supported by the European Space Agency under the 'Fly Your Satellite!' programme. He was also the sub-lead for the Data Analysis team of Project SOBER (Space Object Brightness Evaluation and Reference). In this project, he presented and defended the Preliminary Design Report to ESA, ZARM, Moraba, SSC, DLR, and SNSA at the DLR facility in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. He supported the launch campaign at Esrange in Kiruna, Sweden by processing downlinked optical and IR data for TLE determination and used this data during the flight to make recommendations of exposure settings for the two onboard detectors to the flight operators. Post-flight, he assisted in the processing of the ~600 GB dataset for orbital determination and magnitude estimation of Resident Space Objects.
